We know emergencies happen and we don’t want to be like an airline. However, the number of trips per season and the number of guests per trip are strictly regulated by federal agencies to protect the wild places we are lucky enough to work in. And, the quality of our trips is very important to us. When we reserve a trip for you we start turning others away and immediately begin making preparations – including working and making deposits with the many wonderful venders that help us out.
So, we have the following cancellation policy:
- Cancellations received prior to the final payment date are subject to a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the deposit amount.
- No refunds will be made after the final payment date.
Because of the protections on our wild areas and the preparation needed for our trips We highly recommend trip cancellation insurance.
Travel Protections is inexpensive and can cover all trip costs including trip payments and airfare if you were to need to change plans or cancel.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) more flexible cancelation and payment updates:
The spread of the Coronavirus is shaping up to be a particularly challenging time for the entire world. We take this seriously and we take our role in our local community and our world community seriously. Ultimately, these challenging times will be a lot shorter if the whole country and the entire world works together. It is quite a social experiment!
Our summer trips are months away and we do not expect any issues at this time. We are following the changes and guidelines closely so that when we do get to your trip we are doing everything we can to ensure a safe environment for guests, staff, and our society at large. And, while we are making adjustments, we are also fortunate for the style of our trips:
– Our group sizes are small.
– Our trips are self-contained.
– Our trips are outside in large open spaces.
However, we recognize that this is an uncertain time and that everyone has different circumstances and is in different situations. To allow for greater flexibility for our guests while giving enough time for our guides and staff to plan we have modified our cancellation policy for our trips starting June 1st – Oct 1st 2020.
Modified cancellation policy for trips starting June 1st – October 1st 2020:
We do not expect any issues with our summer trips at this point. However, If you book a multi-day trip with us that starts from June 1st – Oct 1st and then wish to cancel, you will receive a full credit on your current payments for a future trip – either as a gift certificate or towards one of our already scheduled 2021 trips.
You just need to let us know by 45 days before your trip so that we have the opportunity to re-sell spaces and give staff and guides time to plan.
We are also making all final payments due 45 days or less.
After 45 days we will follow our normal cancelation policy.
We hope that we will be able to provide a beautiful getaway but we also understand that everyone’s situation is different. Ultimately our goal is to continue to provide you with the ability to join us in one way or another for many years in the future.
Non-Performance (if we cancel a trip):
We rarely cancel or change a trip. However, we reserve the right to cancel or make changes to a trip if necessary due to weather conditions, safety issues, changes in water levels, insufficient reservations, or other circumstances beyond our control. In such an event, you can receive:
– A credit equal to 100% of your paid trip cost for a future trip
– Or a 100% refund.
We are responsible only for amounts actually paid to Momentum River Expeditions for services we provide, and not for any other costs incurred by the trip member.
