Whitewater Rafting in Oregon by Region:

Southern Oregon although less populated and well known arguably has the best rivers for rafting in the state. The transition from the cascades to the Sierras makes for a very diverse selection. Southern companies include Oregon rafting trips with Momentum River Expeditions. They run trips on the Upper Klamath, the most exciting summer class IV run in west, the Rogue, the Owyhee, the Lower Klamath River, the Scot, and the California Salmon. Also in the south is the Rouge River, a famous wilderness multi-day adventure. Two companies that provide Rogue River rafting are Echo River trips, and Whitewater Warehouse.

Rafting companies in central Oregon are generally based near Bend. Destination Wilderness out of Three Sisters does trips on rivers like the McKenzie, the Umpqua, Owyhee, and also offers rogue river rafting.

Northern Oregon is home to the Deschutes River and all the other tributaries of the Columbia. The rivers tend to be a little busier because of their proximity to the Portland metro area. River Drifters does trips on the Deschutes River, the Clackamas, and the Wind.

Choosing an Oregon Rafting Company- Things to look for:

When choosing a company here are some things you should consider with any outfitter:
The size and style of trips: There are two ends of the spectrum. Companies that generally run trips of 40 to 50 people (sometimes known as Mc-Rafting) and companies that run smaller trips. Both have their advantages. The first type of trip is generally less expensive while the second offers more personalized service and instruction.
Experience of the Guides: This is very important, both for safety reasons and general enjoyment. Before booking a trip ask for the average years of experience of the guides.
Quality of food: This can be a huge part of the rafting experience.
Ecologically sensitivity: Much of the enjoyment of rafting is from being in a place of pristine beauty. It is important to keep these places that way.
Do guides and clients a like keep coming back? This says a lot about a company and how fun it is. Check out the “About the company pages”.

We hope this helps in your search for an Oregon Whitewater rafting outfitter.
