MOMENTUM 06 Winter NEWSLETTER:
River Rafting Oregon, Northern california, and Beyond..

A day rafting on Oregon's Upper Klamath River. The west coast's best summer Whitewater.

A Bald Eagle soaring above the Upper Klamath River.

Chili's Futaleufu River

Hello from all at Momentum,

We hope everyone is having a wonderful winter! Ours has definitely been eventful with all the rain and flooding. Once the water goes down we may have some changed (or new) rapids this coming spring! The good thing is that all this rain/snow has given us a great start on the snow pack. It should be an amazing spring season. Below there is info on our spring trips and on all the new things going on at Momentum.

Also we are offering a 10% PRE-SEASON DISCOUNT on all domestic trips reserved by April 1st. Check out our website and give us a call (our website has some new photos- click refresh on the opening page to rotate through some beautiful shots).

Have a great rest of your winter,

Pete and the staff of

spring TRIPS

The California Salmon
Every spring starts with this one. It is our favorite and we can’t wait! The Salmon is one of the most spectacular rafting trips in the country, it is world-class whitewater in our back yard. And, this year, barring any technical difficulties, we will have a hot tub in camp! We have trips scheduled each weekend from late April through early to mid June. We will also run weekday trips for groups of 4 or more. These trips tend to fill up very fast so if you are interested contact us soon.

More Cal Salmon info at the California Salmon Rafting Page.

The Owyhee River - The Grand Canyon of Oregon
We have had a couple strange water years on the Owyhee, but this one looks very promising. We have two trips:
The Lower: a 5-day wilderness journey through one of the most remote canyons in the continental U.S. with hot springs, beautiful side hikes, petroglyphs, and fun mild rapids (a great family option). We have a trip scheduled for May 1st – 5th.
The Middle: This is one of the most exotic and rarely run river trips in the country and this year is looking perfect for it! It combines dramatic sheer canyon walls, BIG rapids, and it is even more remote then the Lower. This river trip is a true wilderness experience. We have two dates set starting on April 20th – 23rd.
For both of these trips other spring dates are available for groups of 4 or more.

More Owyhee River info at our Owyhee River Rafting page.

The Scott
You don’t hear much about this one and after only doing a few trips on it last spring we decided that should change. The Scott is an incredible and seldom run river with very technical and continuous class IV and V rapids and a beautiful canyon.  You can add this trip on to the back of a Cal Salmon trip for a Northern California “Class V Extravaganza”. We also are going to have a Raft the Scott week from May 15th through the 19th where it will cost only $110 for the trip.

More Scott River info at the Scott River Rafting page.

Klamath Teen Camp / Rafting Camp
This will be a hands on experience for teens ages 13 to 17. Participants will learn river running skills, camping skills, and working in groups. A trip that will be remembered for a lifetime and a guide favorite.
2006 Klamath Teen Camp / Rafting Camp Date: June 22-25

Please call for more info or questions.

Lower Klamath Early Season Wine, Yoga, and Music Trip
Scheduled for June 16th through 18th , a wonderful time to see the Lower Klamath. The water will be up (but still mild), the canyon lush, the wildlife abundant, and we will have our new local hero pairing wines with local and international cheeses. Rachel will be on the trip leading Yoga for those who wish, and we will have some local musicians along. People are encouraged to bring instruments if they play. As with all our Lower Klamath trips you can take an Inflatable Kayak down for a lot more excitement. This should be a fun trip!

More Lower Klamath info at the Lower Klamath River Rafting page.

The Smith River
About 2.5 hours from Ashland Oregon is the North Fork of the Smith River. The North Fork is an extremely rarely run class IV trip through one of the most pristine and unique areas of California. The canyon gets tons of rain but the soil is missing trace elements important to most vegetation so it is very desert like. The plants that do flourish live off the air or insects. The flows for the North Fork are very variable so we are going to plan a weekend 1-day trip in April. The exact date will depend on the flows. If you are interested in being on the “call list” for this trip email us at smith@momentumriverexpeditions.com.
