MOMENTUM 06 Spring NEWSLETTER:
River Rafting Oregon, Northern california, and Beyond..

Rafting on Oregon's Owyhee River

The California Salmon above Last Chance

Hello Everyone,

Anybody ready for spring? We just got 12”+ of new snow but today is beautiful! As many of you may know all the rain and snow we have endured has created what promises to be one of the best rafting seasons in a long, long, time. We have an amazing spring season lined up, some new international trips, and a HUGE newsletter (to go along with the HUGE snow pack). So, below we have included a table of contents for this edition.
The ample snow pack means we will have great water all through the summer and it means that this is the year for the Owyhee and for June trips on the Cal Salmon (if you have not yet been on the Salmon, check it out!). For those who can go on short notice trips we still have room on the extremely rarely run Middle Owyhee on May 8th, and Lower Owyhee trips in May and early June. It is not every year that these trips are available; read the spring trips section for more info.
We are excited about this season and many spring and summer dates are filling up so give us a call. Enjoy the newsletter and hopefully we will see you soon!

spring TRIPS

Rafting the California Salmon: Freight Train!

The California Salmon
It is world-class whitewater in our back yard, one of the most spectacular rafting trips in the country. We have added more dates and this year we should be able to run trips through June (a snow pack over 200%!). Our late May weekend trips are pretty full, but we still have room on weekdays and on trips in June. These trips tend to fill up fast so if you are interested contact us soon. For those already on a Cal Salmon trip you might consider adding a day and checking out the Class V Scott River.
More Cal Salmon info at the California Salmon Rafting Page.

Rafting the Owyhee River
The Owyhee River - The Grand Canyon of Oregon
This is shaping up to be the best Owyhee season in years. If you have the time, join us!
The Middle: This is one of the most exotic and rarely run river trips in the country. It combines dramatic sheer canyon walls, BIG rapids, and is even more remote then the Lower. This river trip is a true wilderness experience. We have a trip leaving on May 8th.
The Lower: a 5-day wilderness journey through one of the most remote canyons in the continental U.S. with hot springs, beautiful side hikes, petroglyphs, and fun mild rapids (a great family option). We have a trip scheduled for May 2nd – 6th and May 30th – June 3rd.
For both of these trips other spring dates are available for groups of 4 or more.
More Owyhee River info at our Owyhee River Rafting page.

The Scott
We have so many rivers in this area sometimes we even take the Scott for granted. We were once again blown away by it on an early season trip last week. The Scott is an incredible and seldom run river with very technical and continuous class IV and V rapids and a beautiful canyon. You can add this trip on to the back of a Cal Salmon trip for a Northern California “Class V Extravaganza”. We also are going to have a Raft the Scott week from May 15th through the 19th during which it will cost only $110 for a day trip.
More Scott River info at the Scott River Rafting page.

The Upper Klamath
We don’t usually think of the UK as a “spring trip”, but we just heard from the dam operators that we should have “2 guns” running in June. This means 2 turbines, which is about 3200 cfs. We will also have our favorite summer level from July – October, about 1800 cfs. This is going to be an excellent Upper Klamath rafting season.
More Upper Klamath info at The Upper Klamath Rafting page.

International Trips

Rafting Chile's Futaleufu River
Chile 2007 - Patagonia's Rio Futaleufu:

Join us for our annual journey into the heart of Patagonia! We have our 2007 dates set and a revised itinerary that begins in Argentina. The trip includes:
- One of the world’s greatest and most beautiful whitewater rivers
- Luxury wilderness camps set among glacier-capped peaks
- Tons of activities
It’s spectacular! More info on our Futaleufu Rafting page.

Rafting Costa Rica's Pacuare River

Costa Rica Tropical Adventure:
Finally!! After repeated trips, lots of sunburns, and many grueling days on uninhabited tropical beaches we have a Costa Rican itinerary that we are truly excited about. Costa Rica is a beautiful country, one that seems to be on everyone’s mind when it comes to traveling. There are many different trips offered by many companies and they range from wonderful to not very good. We wanted to put a trip together that brought you to places that would be difficult to find on your own, places that are off the beaten path, and most importantly places that show you the best of this tropical paradise.

Here is a quick overview of the trip:
- 10 days long with a price ranging from $2550 - $2750 (depends on group size).
- Trip Dates: Nov 22nd – Dec 1st 2006; Mar 23rd – April 1st 2007; and June 1st - 10th 2007. Please note: We will run trips on many other dates with groups of 4 or more.
- The trip includes: Rafting on 2 tropical rivers; jungle hikes, horseback riding, and canopy tours; snorkeling with tropical fish; time on deserted beaches; a nighttime hike with the “bug lady”; and nights at 3 different jungle lodges.

The trip will be on the website soon. Give us a call with any questions.

Rafting India's Brahmaputra River
India's Upper Brahmaptra
Join us for an expedition style trip to one of the new frontiers of adventure travel. Located in Himalayan India among Indo-Tibetan cultures still untouched by westernization is the Brahmaputra River valley. This area has only recently been opened to foreigners and there are strict limits on the number of tourist visits allowed.
The Upper Brahmaputra, known as the Tsang Po in Tibet, is steeped in legend and mystery and was made famous by kayaker Scott Lindgren’s first descent a few years ago. We join the river just inside the Tibetan border as it flows into India. The trip is an expedition in every sense of the word, a cultural and natural adventure of a lifetime. We are honored and excited to visit this amazing land. Our trip date is Jan 13th – 23rd, 2007.

The trip will be on the website soon. Please call us if you are interested.

Green Tag revenues directly support an increase of wind and solar energy onto the power grid. It is only $2 per person and you will be given the “green tags” option when we send you your trip confirmation pack. For those who have already signed up for trips and are interested just add $2 to your final payment.
