Chile is rarely wider than 100 miles, but it stretches from the tropics nearly to Antarctica. It contains some of the driest environments on Earth, also some of the wettest, the wilds of Patagonia and the 20,000-foot peaks of the formidable Andes. The whitewater rafting in Chile is as spectacular as the scenery and includes the Futaleufu River; one of the greatest whitewater rivers in the world.
